Funny, it was about the time we got the Madra cutscene that I was thinking "Wait... what am I supposed to be doing again, huh?"

Kinda weird, Jupiter lighthouse was VERY close to the end of the game, huh, unlike Mercury which was like the third or fourth dungeon.
It felt like at that point in the game, the developers were like "screw it, we have to finish this game", and so it just kind of rushes head first into the end.

That's how I remember it, at least. I'll confirm that or otherwise as I continue my current play through.

Yeah, I hear the two games took a REALLY long time in development, so it was probably around that point that they needed to start rushing, huh. On the bright side, we got a really satisfying ending. They probably aad that planned out.

TBS had better music, better bosses (and less random bosses that pop up out of nowhere), an exiting Bonus Dungeon, better designed Lighthouses, a better plot, better endgame, and you actually felt like you were saving the world, whereas in TLA you know pretty early on that Felix and Jenna have no motives other than saving their parents, so for the first two thirds of the game you get the impression that they're destroying the world just to save their parents (and while Felix may have had his suspicions about the world decaying, Jenna did not).

Also, TLA had Kraden in it, who's easily the most annoying character in the game.

Not really, I just found him to be a super-annoying character.
He's ok in TBS, as he only pops up now and again, but in TLA, he's in literally every cutscene, and it gets tiring by about Madra.

I apologize, my Seccy friend, because I disagree with literally every point you just made, huh, but there's no accounting for taste.

TBS felt like a fight against evil, in TLA you were somewhat... lost?

Though to be fair, TLA did have that fun reveal that that "evil" you fought was trying to save the world. And you killed them. You monsters. :P

I'm not sure. I'm still in the camp that the GS1 guys were in the right. Remember, The Wise One never confirmed their theories, and all the Vortexes in DD?...

I don't think the Wise One really needed to confirm the world was shrinking when the Mars tower was barely reachable at that point. It's pretty obvious something was going on. It just wasn't a fight of good vs evil, it was different in-betweens. The first game weren't the bad guys, the second either. It was one side was fighting for limited time secured survival, the other side was fighting for self-destruction-risky unlimited time. Both have valid arguments.

Have you read my Flip Side Theory? The main theories are that, and the incomplete GS theory for why the vortexes exist.

Remember, Weyard is a flat world, and flat worlds have two sides. Who's to say the other side finished their quest as well?
Also...
Remember, some of the power of the mars star never made it to the Golden Sun - it's in Isaac. There's imbalance there.

I'm a huge fan of the Flipside Theory, huh!

As a matter of fact, one of the many dead RPs on GSAR was inspired by it.

It was a long time ago so I'll try to explain it the best I can.

You know how no matter where you are on Earth, you'll always fall towards earth? Well the theory goes that Weyard is the same way, and that underneath "Topside" is essentially another world. We know that there is day and night from Lost age (Garoh and such), but it seems from the way Ms. Rolian describes it that the people on the Underside have it pretty bad. Starvation and all that.

As a matter of fact, in that dead RP I mentioned, the villains were adepts from Underside that wanted to summon a dangerous dragon that would flip Weyard on its head (so basically the people on Underside would be the ones on top.) So I imagine they have really bad agriculture, and since plants don't grow animals starve, too. And to add insult to injury, all that water from Gaia Falls is hypothetically draining into Underside and it isn't coming back up, so they are gradually getting more and more flooded a la Pokemon Sapphire, huh.
