I dunno, Isaac got horribly sidetracked in TBS, huh.

TLA also had some super lazy design choices, like giving Felix and Sheba copycat classes, and reusing all of Team Isaac's alt classes even though they don't work as well for Team Felix. In fact, I used to hate Felix and Sheba because they were just clones of Isaac and Ivan.

Also, when did Isaac get sidetracked, exactly? Kolima? Colosso? No, both cases he was forced to do it by outside circumstances. Kolima's drawbridge was up, and Babi wouldn't let him pass until he did it. Felix, on the other hand, got so sidetracked that even the antagonists called him out on it. There's like a whole scene in Champa dedicated to calling Felix out on this.

Personally I love TLA the most, it was my first GS game so TBS was less exciting for me.
After years though, replayed the games starting form TBS and found the connection and started to like it very much x3 And then realized that.. I love TLA even more than before 8D

I got lost a lot in TLA and things felt a lot less purposed.

Okay, I have to admit, getting to Lemuria was a huge pain, huh.

It wasn't too easy to get lost in TBS.

And yet, there was plenty of room for exploration in TBS. In fact, you can full on change the order of certain events. Mia has lines for the Kolima events if you went up north to Imil first. You can explore the heck out of the Suhullah desert too, allowing you to get even more djinn to just wipe out Colosso.

I dunno, there's quite a bit of exploration in Lost Age, too, huh. I mean, c'mon, that's like 70% of the game is just discovering stuff.

That's not the point. The point was that TBS has all of that without getting you lost. It's linear, but with a ton of exploration as well.

TLA's second third is just full on aimless open world.

Yeah, true. The Trident thing is my absolute least favorite part about that game because it gives you virtually no direction whatsoever, huh.

I didn't get lost at the beginning, and I got sorta stuck at the end with the dwarves but that wasn't nearly as bad as the stupid Trident thing ,huh.

I loved the aimless-wide-open-world thing that TLA had going on, I felt like an explorer discovering exotic lands.

Yeah... but I'd rather have a whole game built around that rather than what TLA was. Like, imagine if the point hadn't been to light the lighthouses, but to explore new lands and that you'd just come across some great event that needed solving. Then the openness would have totally worked.

Instead, we have to go to the Jupiter Lighthouse, have no way to get there, get shoehorned into lemuria after aimless wondering, and after even the antagonists start going "Dood, what the hell?" finally get back on course...

Funny, it was about the time we got the Madra cutscene that I was thinking "Wait... what am I supposed to be doing again, huh?"

Kinda weird, Jupiter lighthouse was VERY close to the end of the game, huh, unlike Mercury which was like the third or fourth dungeon.
