So, I was thinking around when I wondered what you'd call a team of... well, teams. I figure if a team is four adepts, then what would you call a group of four teams? Luckily for me, I found a workable solution. Adept - Single Unit Team - Four Adepts Squad - Four Teams Platoon - Four Squads Company - Four Platoons. Platoons and companies only really matter for war, and that's no fun for this exercise so we'll ignore them. However, should a team from each clan form together to fight a single foe, and then they met up and joined forces, how would that look? And who would they fight? You don't need to make a big story, but I am interested in what your adepts could be like, and perhaps why they're fighting. There are, of course, a couple rules to this. First: each team must have an adept of each element. Second, they must have an adept of each role. Finally, each team must have two casters and two warriors. Basically, arrange the following into teams, and decide who is physical and who's a caster: E - Earth S - Striker F - Fire D - Defender A - Air C - Controller W - Water H - Supporter ,-----------. |ES|ED|EC|EH| |--+--+--+--| |FS|FD|FC|FH| |--+--+--+--| |AS|AD|AC|AH| |--+--+--+--| |WS|WD|WC|WH| '-----------' And once you have your Squad of 16 all set up into balanced teams, consider explaining how each adept is, and perhaps what they joined together to fight. I look forward to seeing your squads~ |

They get a load more than they ask for...Team ⑨ This team appears in a side-story, appearing as a motley group of fools off to solve the incident. They may be the strongest of the strong, but what they fight will challenge them to their limits.Dream Battle...? The last team

Team 1: Venus Physical Defender - Primarily uses stone based spells, such as quake and gaia. May not be the fastest of characters, but has a decent balance of defenses and offenses. While he may not shrug off as much damage as other tanks, he does dish out quit a bit of damage. His counters are focused on a single target, and as he mains a spear he's fairly good at piercing defenses. Mars Caster Striker - High risk, high reward, and blows shit up good. Mainly explosion based spells, like Blast and Starburst, and tends to have wider ranged spells to spread out the damage more. She's got high speed, high casting, but low defenses. Even the stronger versions of her power attacks hit areas, and just to be mean she mains a bow for when that's not enough. Jupiter Physical Supporter - Lightning based (bolt, plasma, etc), has heals, and she's a wolf. Or rather, wolfbreed beastling. Her stats are rather well rounded, though she has high luck. She tends to keep the party alive, using spells like Boon and Care. She can revive allies if she needs, and can also cure most ailments. She's ready to face any foe, whether they be defense or warding based, thanks to Fists being her main weapon. Mercury Caster Controller - Ice based (frost, cool, etc), this character focuses mainly on tripping up the foe so that his allies can move in and strike. He's quick (though not as quick as their striker), and has some decent casting. His warding's rather high, though his defenses are a bit wanting. Tends to focus on ailments such as bind and stun, although he does have an ice barrier and a damage reflection spell to aid his party as well. Mains a staff in battle, thus giving him an extra bit of oomph. Team 2: Venus Caster Supporter - Plant based, thus using spells like growth and thorn. Weaves spells like cure and heal to support her team, and also has a barrier and reflect spell to further protect them. She has an added damage power spell, which gains added effects in its later tiers of power. She also mains a scythe. The character in general has a major harvest motif going on - she's likely a healer for a farming village or something. Mars Caster Defender - Explosive based, thus using spells like blast and starburst. Has rather low defenses for a defender, though most would consider them average. He does, however, have surprisingly high casting for a defender - thus, his explosive counters pack one hell of a punch. His supports are all about boosting his damage as well - he uses both enchant/power spells and critical casting boost supports (think Weapon Focus→Weapon Grace, but for spellcasters). With his Fist weapons as main, not even those resistant to spells are safe from his counters. Jupiter Physical Controller - Wind based, thus uses spells like whirlwind and slash. Tends to focus on party buffs - agility buffs, defense buffs, resistance buffs, etc. She mains an axe, which she uses to daze troublesome opponents. They have both good defense and warding, and decent speed (albeit somewhat slow for a controller). Mercury Physical Striker - Water based, thus uses spells like douse and froth. This character has a healthy amount of PP for a striker, allowing him to pull off their powerful attacks longer before the tire, though they're barely average in speed, which for a striker is a bit slow. Using his trusty spear, their main focus is to pierce through the enemy defenses and strike them with the force of the entire ocean... or at least they say. The main's a proud sailor, though he dreams one day of being the captain of his own ship. Team 3: Venus Physical Controller - primarily uses crystal based attacks, such as shard and gem. He has a mix of debuff spells and enhancements, mixing both agility down spells for the enemy and enchant/effect spells for the party. Bizarrely for a physical character, he has below average strength. However, they make up for this by not only being skilled in multiple weapon types with decent control effects, but also by having high casting, allowing them to show off a bit with a bow, which he mains. Mars Physical Supporter - primarily uses flame based attacks, such as flare and fire. He heals using single target healing, as well as full party regen. He's highborn, and tends to wield weapons more associated with this class - primarily the Blade. He's definitely the leader of this group, and will inspire and rally his allies to boost their speed. He's got a power attack as well, thrusting his rapier forward to call upon the symbol of his house to strike - a fiery bird. Jupiter Caster Striker - primarily uses astral spells, such as gleam and star. She's quick, and has rather high casting - however, her HP and defense are both rather low, so she's a bit more fragile than both. She tends to favor piercing spells, and her supports act to lower enemy defenses further. She mains a dagger, allowing her to strike critically with her power spells. Mercury Caster Defender - primarily uses steam spells, such as vent and geyser. She's quite slow, but she hits rather hard, and even has some decent attack for when particularly wardful foes show up. Unlike most defenders, she actually only has two base damage spell lines - sacrificing her Advanced line to be able to cast the wish line instead. Her supports help boost party defenses as well. Team 4: Venus Caster Striker - primarily uses crystal spells, such as shard and gem. She focuses on quick, piercing strikes using light-themed crystal aspect spells. Her power attacks also help to counter casters to a degree, with her Power:Piercing spell also damaging PP at higher tiers, and her Power:Multiplier inflicting energy purge. She has decent attack and casting, and good warding, though her speed is low for a striker, and her luck is below average. She mains an Ankh - specifically a cross-style ankh, though she's known to use daggers and blades as well. Knows the Heal line and the Revive set for her supports. Buddy-cop style partner to this team's mercury adept. Mars Physical Controller - primarily uses corrosive spells, such as acid and sear. He tends to use spells to lower the enemy's armor and weapon strength, thus defense, attack, and warding debuffs. His power attack's higher tiers lower resistance as well. Her main weapon tends to be claws, which she uses to punish foes who get too close. Her stats are rather all-around, making her a kind of jack-of-stats. Jupiter Caster Defender - primarily uses wind spells, such as whirlwind and slash. Focuses more on protecting allies than punishing foes, thus having high HP, defense, and warding, but lower casting. Also has high luck for a defender. His counters and supports all focus on further lowering enemy offenses, with his supports lowering attack and casting, and his signature mace there to lower the target's power. Mercury Physical Supporter - primarily uses ice spells, such as frost and prism. Using the Bless and Anoint lines for their healing, she focuses on counter-caster techniques for when she's free to strike. They have an Enchant:Effect (Bind) and Shield:Effect (PP Damage) for their supports, and have a Power:Added Damage line which gains a PP drain effect at higher tiers. She mains the Longsword, the symbol of her paladin order, though she also is known to use maces and bows frequently. Slow for a supporter, and with lower luck than one might expect (though higher than average), she has high defense and warding in its place. Buddy-cop style partner to this teams venus adept. They join forces to fight: A group calling themselves the Corvids have appeared on weyard. Having been driven from their home, they hope to change the essence of Weyard's alchemy to closer match their own home, and to reestablish themselves, their culture, and their climate here. Unfortunately, doing that would come at the expense of Weyard's people. Eventually, they are beaten back to a central location, and their main forces are taken down. However, their leader Rachel joins with the force that was to reformat Weyard's alchemy, becoming a large creature called Corvideus. Not stopping for a second, our four sets of heroes band together to stop this creature, and put an end to their attempted xenocide. |

,-----------.,---------------------------. |ES|AD|WC|FH| Team Unlimited Blade Works | |--+--+--+--|----------------------------| |FS|ED|AC|WH| Team Flash-Fire ...........| |--+--+--+--|----------------------------| |AS|WD|FC|EH| Team Sandstorm ............| |--+--+--+--|----------------------------| |WS|FD|EC|AH| Team Brutalizer ...........| '-----------''---------------------------' Team Unlimited Blade Works: This is a team focused solely on supporting one key member. The Venus Adept is a skilled swordsman in close combat, but the real threat is his medium to long range Ragnarok. He has perfected this skill, able to generate a whole squadron's worth of swords at once and launch them accurately across a huge distance; a wall of death nearly impossible to dodge. This team is able to decimate enemies from afar, often before they even know what's coming. The Venus adept's main weakness is his vulnerability to other ranged attacks. The Jupiter defender amends this weakness with his signature Psynergy skill: he is able to manipulate air around the team, creating a layer of wind that redirects projectiles around the team. Since they rarely encounter head-to-head battles, the services of a Mars healer Mercury mage is plenty. Team Flash-Fire This is a sneak-up-in-your-face assassination team. They operate swiftly and methodically, each member working in close unison. The Jupiter caster specializes in disorienting the enemy: her Psynergy clouds their minds, binds their abilities, and saps their strength. In this disorienting haze, the Venus defender separates the enemy team by casting up huge walls of stone between them. The stone walls act both as a defense against retaliation and as a way to isolate key targets. This Mars striker specializes in using Psynergy-enhanced elemental blades - while the enemy is confused, disoriented, and separated, he will swoop in and pick off the enemy one at a time with his unparalleled single-target damage. All of this done in a few second's span. The potent Mercury healer is vital to this team, as aside from the brawny Venus adept they are fragile and are prone to sustaining injuries in their high-risk tactic. Team Sandstorm Team Sandstorm specializes in long, drawn out battles of attrition. They slowly chisel away at the other team's vitality while sustaining their own. The Jupiter swordsman uses light blades in combat. By utilizing Psynergy and speed, she can launch slicing winds from her blade. These thin cuts will over time bleed out an ill-prepared enemy. The Mars adept uses cursed fire Psynergy. Her flame attacks linger and burn the enemy over time, debilitating them. Both the Venus healer and Mercury defender can heal their team, and the Venus healer is able to Revive any downed members; often with their efforts the team stays in top shape while the enemy slowly crumbles. Team Brutalizer This is a vicious team that specializes in taking down foes with high defenses. The Mercury striker can pierce any armor by first casting Water Psynergy to soak the enemy, then freezing the water to expand into sharp spines. He has trained to be able to do this smoothly, as though it was one action. The Venus mage uses plant-based Psynergy. She can grow flowering vines that produce a toxic pollen. This pollen corrodes armor, metal, and shields. The roots from her vines can cleave and crumble heavy walls. The Jupiter support constantly buffs the team by casting Impact in order to keep their team's offense sharp. His Healing Wind rejuvenates his team to continue a long siege. The role of the Mars adept is to tank the enemy offense. Should an enemy infiltrate and dive their line-up, the Mars adept intercepts and restrains them with his brawn and fiery fists. You know, it is kind of funny that you had this idea too. I did something similar in the Nationstates Future Tech war scene, where my country has the following unit structure: Defender: 1 Combatant Fire-Team: 2-4 Defenders Division (Our closest equivalent to a full army): 2-4 Fire Teams When regarding our Artificer Divisions, a "Fire-Team" would be pretty much identical to the Adept teams you describe here. And I already had most of an army written out in preparation for an event off-site. But, I can sort out their structure much more effectively by applying your system to them. Since this setup is much more organized than the random and chaotic categorization that I had before. This probably is not going to make much sense to most people on this site due to its weirdness, but I will post it here regardless. Mainly because some people might find its silliness to be annoyingly amusing. 3rd Artificer Division (Warning: Contains Sci-fi/Aeiou) I might make an actual, purely-Fantasy Squad at some point as well. But, I obviously need to get a single character for a non-Aeiou Golden Sun setting sorted out first, of course. Edited by Robert Joe, Aug 28 2015, 10:44 AM.

That was really interesting to read. I'm gonna look on your site to get a more in-depth overview of the Aeiou lore. ^ ^ Edited by cipher, Aug 28 2015, 05:49 PM.

Team Varia: People who do really unscientific mad science to it, usually as part of the trading organization. Mercury Caster Supporter - Edgar Oberon, though he's really Mercury only in native element tbh. Chuck heals and PP restore items and if they're all fueled up is fairly (im)balanced. Woo. Venus Warrior Defender - Mary Burrell, but if she's not running pack defend venus remake then she's definitely doing the heavy strikes. Jupiter Caster Controller - Peggy Bridget, haven't really written her out much but controller seems her. Definitely a speedier debuffer character who impairs the enemy before they can ruin everything though. Mars Warrior Striker - Atteson, some Jennaist Dude. Direct fiery hellfire type who kills it with fire by hitting it with fire until it dies the death. - Team Demon: Uhhh...demon-y and demon-made people from the spinelplay retextured as adepts, I guess? I picked the ones who were beginning to grow their own ideas, so most of the other uminekos like Bern/Lambda/Beato aren't here for now. They're not associated with the organization very closely (or even necessarily real depending on subcontinuity). Mercury Caster Striker: Gaap Beatrice. Queen of the water demons is a queen, but most of her support is called from others or amateur, and by herself her offensive power is really just as good as her battlefield control...Really, she's a jack of all trades between Mercury and Jupiter, but she's Mercury where it counts and magic in hands, even if she likes physically kicking people as her original. Waterspouts and firehoses intensifyyyyy. Mars Warrior Defender: Kanon II. As an adept wields a flaming arm sword, I guess? Fairly empty and servile personality as the original but with slightly more tendency to literally firewalls. All of the firewall jokes. All of them. Maybe some attack interception capability like his original tried on the stakes and succeeded on the chiesters? Definitely the dude who does dirty work even though every other party member can do it better. Jupiter Caster Supporter: Virgilia Maro. Flies around and provides party restoration second winds to allies, deigning to lob holy lightning spears of checkmate at the enemy if nobody needs a fix or a cup of tea. Venus Warrior Controller: A random demon who inflicts status effects on the enemy party with their attacks and whatnot. May occasionally be replaced by a much more jack of all trades supporter/defender-y Ronove in less balanced situations or when a controller isn't strictly necessary. - Team Power Knights: Adepts with a spare-ranger kick. Probably people with magical girl or power ranger style transformation armor items. Mercury Warrior Controller: Fish Ranger Mackerel. I was going to make a joke about otters but I don't know. Tends to use tricky attacks one would associate with a water villain rather than a water hero to bend the battle in his favor. Mars Caster Supporter: Pyro Ranger Arlene. Heals people. With fire. Idunno, ask Jenna how it works. Arlene does Aura and Phoenix a lot. Venus Caster Striker: Gaia Ranger Aaron. Pretty much a less restrained Mary who blows stuff up. Jupiter Warrior Defender: Aerie Ranger Janet. Windwalls everywhere. - Team Spare: Literally the spare elites of the organization. Originally solo, they're usually assembled when other parties are busy and a quartet is needed either for dungeoneering or musical purposes. Jupiter Warrior Striker: Aja. Lightning swords everywhere. Works fine solo. Plays the violin. Venus Caster Supporter: Omar. Monk-type supporter, sort of like a less-offensive Himi. Plays the cello. Mercury Warrior Defender: Elise. Icewall chill intensifies girl who will protect ALL the team. Plays the viola. Mars Caster Controller: Han. Debuff flamethrower dude. Plays base and second violin. |
