>Wishes for Anarchy >"Granted, but no one does anything interesting with it whatsoever. They keep living their lives exactly as they always have." (It doesn't actually stop me from doing anything I want lol, it's not a very strong downside but anyway...) Isn't that impossible? The freedom to do anything, yet no one does? |

Freedom to choose means you also have the freedom not to choose. I have the freedom in my country to bear firearms. I choose not to exercise it. Edited by Sagie, May 27 2015, 08:23 PM.

Well, anarchy implies a lack of law enforcement, so for you it'd make no difference whether or not you choose to carry a gun since you could freely do so already anyway. |

Right, I wasn't talking about anarchy in that example though, just using it as an example of not exercising a freedom. Lack of law enforcement, we can all still opt to keep doing the same things we do every day. Who's going to stop us? I picture you going on this crazy rampage doing all your Catmanny stuff, and business people just leisurely walk to work right past you. |

I'd resolve to making it as difficult as possible for people to live normally. |

Anarchy doesn't mean you get to do whatever you want with no consequences. Anarchy only means there is no authority enforcing laws. Nobody can order you around simply because he's your boss, but break stuff and you'll still get problems. Anarchy won't cause chaos everywhere, most people living in that kind of society would probably understand that the best way to survive is to cooperate because they can't do everything themselves and they will either end up living like any other society with unwritten rules enforced by the people themselves or self-destruct completely. |

Anarchy is not a thing which most societies would be a part of by choice, regardless of whether or not individuals (such as you) would. Law enforcement and government and all that jazz didn't happen because people got bored one day, but because they provide a tangible benefit to the world at large. Even if I were at no risk of injury or whatever as a result of doing what is currently illegal, I doubt I would do those things anyways. I have never had much of a desire to break the law, and it is my own sense of morality, not limits imposed upon me by others, that has always been responsible for that. |

Which is why your "negative" to that wish was a friendly volunteer fire department arriving to put out the fire. |

Why would you want the world to burn? I thought that for you fighting was a means of stopping villains and whatnot, while here you sound like one yourself. |

Because I'm not a hero. I'm sheer chaotic neutral anti-hero, and I love explosions and chaos. The path to defeating evil is also a path of destruction. |

They can't fix more than you can destroy? True enough, I guess. But remember: with anarchy, no laws stop you, but no laws stop them either. Destroy too much stuff and instead of repairing they're going to get annoyed and destroy you instead to get rid of the problem. No more you, no more destruction and they can go on their merry way. |
