This is my gold password. Yay me for writing it in a MS Word document from the start. Copy/Paste is easy to do. Sadly pasting on a gameboy cartridge is not possible, but at least it makes sharing the password easy. I don't remember the exact levels but it was somewhere between 30-40 and it has all djinn and items of interest if I remember correctly.

Small note: Read left to right. It was a huge wall of letters at first so I separated it in packs of 10, which seems to be the length of each Golden Sun line if Miva's password is to be believed. If I made a mistake somewhere and a line is incomplete or has an extra letter don't worry about it and just make the necessary changes.

My first taste of Golden Sun was in Brawl, where I thought his assist trophy was nice, but I shrugged Isaac off as just another obscure Nintendo character that Brawl is so chock full of. About 3 years ago, however, I was at an old game store by my house and I saw this GBA game called Golden Sun. It was oddly compelling, but I didn't know a thing about it, so I bought it blindly. Now, here I am, nearly obbsessed with the series.

No way! You came in as an Oldguard? AWESOME! That's pretty rare nowadays, what with most of the GS fans being introduced via Dark Dawn. ^-^

Wait, really?! I haven't even played Dark Dawn yet, to be honest...

I was 11, my brother was 13, and my other brother was 16. I still relied on my mom to buy games for me, but we had no real way of knowing what was coming out. The middle brother learned how to use the internet, and I guess bought a copy of Golden Sun without anyone knowing. I snuck in his room and started playing it, and was really impressed at how awesome it was both in terms of visuals and audio. My older brothers always hogged the SNES as a kid, but I got the original Game Boy almost exclusively to myself. When I started playing Golden Sun I was blown away how I could play an SNES style game on a handheld, so I kept playing.

I didn't fall in love right away though, as the prologue was incredibly boring to me. As a kid I didn't even understand a lot of it, and It took me several attempts before I could keep my interest until the scene on the roof of the house ended. I was too impressed by the idea of an SNES game on a Game boy though, so I kept playing. Once I got out of Vale I saved over all three save slots, including my brother's old file. Luckily for me he had already gotten bored of the game, and just let me keep it.

I would obsess about the game for several months, and play it from the end of the prologue to the end of the game several times. I spent a really long time searching the overworld trying to find the Djinn, and I missed so much on the first few playthroughs that it was always something new each time. I didn't even know about Crossbone isle until about the third time through, and it took me a long time to ever think to go back to Lunpa after getting the cloak ball. I also had a really hard time figuring out that I had to use Ply at the statue in Mercury Lighthouse. Nothing flat out tells you, and if you're wandering around for a while and using it exclusively as healing magic, it's hard to remember it was used for something else earlier.

I hadn't yet learned how to use the internet since it was *gasp* still pretty new at the time, so I had no walkthroughs to help me. For the longest time I couldn't figure out where the last Djinn was, and one morning after I woke up and was laying there for a few minutes, the answer hit me and I was 100% correct. I never thought to go back to Lunpa Fortress and find out what was behind that cave in Donpa's room. I remember I was so excited that I was right, and it was so great to find all the Djinn. I remember this very vividly since it was such a great video game moment.

As mentioned by others in the thread, this was one of the first times I had seen anime characters, and I really liked Mia's expression. A pretty face goes a long way with any character design, and combined with the big fluffy winter coat she just looked like a really nice person.

The wait for The Lost Age was so frustrating, and it was what made me learn how to use the internet. I needed to know when I could play the next game. XD

Golden Sun also helped me learn a lot of vocabulary. I didn't understand a lot of the words, so I frequently had the dictionary out as I played the game.

Golden Sun had a big impact on me as a kid, and it's a big part of why I still love it. When I play through it, all sorts of memories of me as a kid come into my mind since it was so important to me back then. It may be slow paced and out of date, but I still really enjoy it.

@Saving over your brother's save file: You're lucky you weren't my brother or there would have been hell to pay! Ahaha :P

@Using Ply on the statue: Yeah same, I had no idea and I was stuck there until one of my friends (who already played the game) clued me in. He only knew because of the Nintendo Power guide book.

All that because they misspelled "Pray" in japan. Technically, Ply is the correct translation, but in context it looks like Japan actually meant Purei instead of Purai, so... though accurate translation is accurate, it kinda kills any context.

You're supposed to be praying to the statue there.

GS: TLA was our first ever gameboy advance game. I remember us being so curious as to what was in the chest in Yallam, but since we didn't have GS:TBS, we could never get it, no matter how many times we replayed the games.

This is it. This is the sin that created Aeiou as we now know it, from my middle school days. And also it's how I was introduced to Golden Sun. After it ended I went on a massive wikiwalk, and recently started actually playing through TBS on VBA. So yeah there's that.

Huh, this topic reminded me of Nikki. I wonder where she is and how she's doing. She was a big Venusian for a season or two. Also props to Delfes for the gold code. I had mine written down somewhere which was so painstaking to do. Took me a few years before i thought to put it on word. I no longer have that file though, so rip me.

I finally finished Golden Sun recently guys, I finally did it. I finished the first game, it was good, The Lost Age still feels somewhat better in my opinion.

My sister and I went to a gamestop to get some games. I didn't see any that caught my eye and Fantoma wanted a specific game, but then she saw Dark Dawn's box on a shelf and seemed really interested and considered getting it instead, because she could only get one or the other. I then got it with my money instead and told her to get the other game she wanted and I'd play it to see if it was worth the price I paid for it.

It pretty much was and when I found out it had two prior games, I sought them out in my town.

I wonder that about a lot of names that I encounter in old threads. Names and faces...lost to the ages....

I tell this story a lot so I'll keep it short. Nintendo Power used to have this sort-of marketing type "magazine" called Nintendo Power Advance, and the first issue was sent out for free for being a subscriber. Basically, it served to drum up interest in the Gameboy Advance, I imagine. The focus of the issue was on a lot of the launch titles of the GBA (which I did have at the time already), but there was a brief mention of Golden Sun in the first few pages. All it took was a few pictures and the mention of "RPG" to set my childhood self frothing at the mouth for more. I got it either my next birthday or Christmas, whichever came first after its release.

For fun, here's a link to the exact page of Nintendo Power Advance that introduced me to Golden Sun and, eventually, would bring me here today.
