http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/May_2015_Nepal_earthquake There was a second quake, a "major aftershock" following the one that hit Nepal and neighboring areas on April 25th. |

I was horrified to hear about this. The numbers are just mind numbing. My family had been supporting a child from Nepal for years through World Vision. She lives near where the quake hit. We are hoping to hear that she is safe and sound. |

I hope she is safe. Your family is very kind to be offering that support. |

This is the first I'm hearing of this afterschock. How bad is it?

It was magnitude 7.3, compared to the earlier one of 7.8. The death toll is orders of magnitude lower (50 compared to 8,000), still the injuries and damage to buildings is significant particularly since this is added on top of the previous quake. |

Yep. On the slightly bright side there is a lot of help being sent over there so I have a hopeful hunch they are more equipped to handle the second quake. |

I know that my district of Rotary has been doing a lot, at least in response to the original earthquake. I hope that the same measures continue to be taken in response to this, especially since I'm sure that there are still problems from the original. |
