Changing your path to find a better one isn't a thing you ought to regret, Catman. You have created an impossible purpose for yourself by setting aside reality. But there are so many wonderful, great things you could do that are even better than that; things that would give your life purpose and meaning. You don't know you would regret it. You haven't tried. And you have your entire life to try. That's what life is for everyone, Cat, trying to find our way. Sometimes we fail, sometimes we succeed, but that's life. There are other ways to try and put an end to fighting. Real ones, that could work. Probably not forever. But there are conflicts all over the world that need people of peace and inner strength to help solve them. Hey Cat, I'm headed home from work now. Talk to you tomorrow? I feel that a great ambition should be lived for. If that ambition were to die, then the person would be dead too. I would regret ever having ambition in the first place, it had all been for nothing, a waste. Like I said earlier, if I can't live the way I want to then there's no point to life. And nothing is better to a person than what they dream, never ever suggest to them that anything else is 'better'. 'Wonderful, great things' mean nothing compared to my own dreams. I don't want compromise. |

Then don't compromise. Try hard for your dreams, Cat. But the very fact that you're asking this question means you have some concept of what the rest of the world is like and thinks, and are concerned for it. Empathy is really hard, but it's part of being human, and understanding the viewpoints of others and choosing to adjust your own accordingly as you gain new information and insight will shape your goals. Pursue your dreams. If others think differently, you don't have to give up. But you may want to ask why they do, and learn from it. Time isn't wasted if you learn from it, and grow. Will you be around tomorrow? Edited by Sagie, Apr 16 2015, 10:10 PM.

But nothing says that your ambition cannot get replaced by an even greater ambition. Dreams can evolve while keeping their original essence. It seems to me that you will not betray yourself as long as you keep trying to be the best in what you do, and never cease working towards ending all forms of conflict. |

Maybe think about seeing a therapist/counselor about these things? They are professionals and help you sort through your thoughts and experiences to better deal with and make sense of them. |

My ambition is irreplaceable. I don't really see what that would achieve. I wouldn't want to speak to a stranger about my most personal interests. Even if they are there for those reasons. Edited by Catman, Apr 17 2015, 08:51 AM.

Rather than a matter of replacing your ambition, perhaps it is a matter of letting it follow its natural evolution. |

You can pass down your passion to new generations. You can become a great fighter, a guru and create new fighting style like no one ever did. Then open your own school / dojo and teach people how to be strong and show them to never give up your dreams. You can also travel around the world and help children who want to become somebody like you, showing them your way. The world needs you, Catman ; ) |
