So, I was doing my best not to wake up this morning (it's saturday, dammit, I wanna sleep in!), when I thought up an interesting spell for a GS-type game. I figured "hey, I'm sure plenty of other people have thought this kind of thing up, why not make a topic?", then promptly went back to sleep. Now, having gotten some minor errands done and a full belly, I figure I might as well write down that idea I had, and ask what ideas you guys have had too. Now, I have no idea what to call this ability, but here's the gist of it: The element and added effect of the ability are the same as the weapon's unleash. If the weapon has no unleash, the spell is non-elemental and has no added effect. The spell is only available to item classes because of the above clause - they're the only type of class able to have all four elements open to them. The item class is probably weaponmaster themed or something. The spell grows in power and animation with each class rank, but doesn't change it's name. Rank 1: 4 phantom images of the attacker's equipped weapon type appear and slam into the target. The color of the phantom images is based on the unleash, matching its element. Rank 2: 4 phantom images of the attacker's equipped weapon type appear and slam into the target. The color of the phantom images is based on the unleash, matching its element. The attacker then does a quick attack with a similar animation to the Vorpol Slash and Boost Hack animations. Rank 3: 4 phantom images of the attacker's equipped weapon type appear and slam into the target. The color of the phantom images is based on the unleash, matching its element. The attacker closes in, doing a 3-hit combo before dashing back and preforming a quick attack with a similar animation to the Vorpol Slash and Boost Hack animations. Rank 4: 4 phantom images of the attacker's equipped weapon type appear and slam into the target. The color of the phantom images is based on the unleash, matching its element. The attacker closes in, does a 4-hit combo before jumping back and into the air, calling down a blast of elemental energy that looks similar to one of Atalanta's arrows, but colored to match the weapon's unleash element. The impact triggers a burst of elemental energy and triggers a high knockback effect to the target. This attack is a multiplier style attack. Each higher rank has a higher multiplier effect, and thus a slightly higher cost to preform. So, what do you think? Got a possible name for it, or questions to ask about it? Got some ideas of your own you wanna share? Feel free to reply~ |

Oh, I like the first one. Fervent Strike seems like a nice fit - it's non specific to any particular weapon type, and gets the "powerful rush" feeling across. Nice one.~ |

Several years ago, I made a system of magic for a RP heavily based on Golden Sun djinn (no psinergy). Would it be on-topic to describe some of the summons? It's bad that I say this myself, but I thought they were quite cool

Sure - new summons are just as welcome. Basically this a "came up with something new and cool for GS? Post it here!" thread. :3 |

Sounds pretty cool. I'll be interested to read other peoples ideas too, though I have no ideas myself. |

Ok! So here are some! I'll probably build upon the list if I have some time to spare other days. Asthenoblade (1 Venus, 1 Mars): Earth breaks and a bidimensional jet of molten lava emerges from the ground. Tetrashock (1 Venus, 1 Mars, 1 Jupiter, 1 Mercury): A vortex appears, and a petal-like stream of Earth energy hits the enemy. Then, in succession, three other vortexes appear, corresponding to all other elements. Dire flock (2 Mars, 3 Jupiter): A flock of wyverns carrying napalm explosives bombs the enemy position. Shugenja (don't remember the djinn anymore, but they were supposed to grow in power, more or less): Fog inundates the scene, and then a magician dressed in Japanese clothes inhales and blows air through his right hand, which is curled into a circle. Steam at incredibly high temperature burns the enemy. Rabiott: Metallic needles rain from the sky, piercing the enemy. They are tied to metalic threads. Then a big clump of metal falls from the sky, and it unfolds, becoming a human-like robot, which then gets charged with electricity and proceeds to electrocute the enemy. Kosmogorov: The camera zooms out, and the battle scene is seen to be as in a small chamber on a desk, where an old man is sitting. He puts both his index fingers over and below the enemy. Zoom in again. Twin black hole-like structures appear below and above the enemy. They attract the enemies and make them spin until tidal forces rip them apart. Inamay: A pack of wild wolves charge into the enemy, dripping seeds. Then, in the distance, a woman plays a flute. The seeds grow, and the ground becomes a jungle of vines with very sharp thorns, which viciously lacerate the enemy for a long time. Raffelia: The world darkens until only the stars can be seen. Some of them move, showing a constellation of a furry mammal. Then the forefront of the mammal flashes and the light goes on again. The enemy has been truly frozen. ...Here there were another six summons that now I don't remember... Tamborin: A knighted angel (kinda like summon Judgement) creates a sphere of air which traps the enemy and flies them into the space. They go out of the solar system, of the galaxy, and reach the end of the universe, a big solid wall. They crash against it at an incredible speed. Mura: A transparent cube grows until it surrounds the enemy. You can listen to futuristic sounds. Then it flashes in the middle, vertically. And horizontally. And longitudinally. Now there are four cubes. The process is repeated a lot of times with the smaller cubes. At the end, the futuristic music becomes static. Suddenly, all the tiny cubes generated randomly exchange positions, carrying whatever matter there was inside. The cubes disappear. The enemy falls to pieces. Halias: Summon a copy of your enemy which will fight at your side until it is defeated or the battle ends. Alcestus (12 Venus, 12 Mars, 12 Jupiter, 12 Mercury): The sky melts, as if the higher liquid spheres beyond the sky of ancient really existed. The liquid, however, is not water, but an acid that dissolves everything. Including the enemy. Edited by Nikki, Mar 21 2015, 09:24 PM.

Imagine that there is a hole in the top of the sky and water is pouring from there. The hole grows and grows, until it covers the entire sky cupola. At that point, it is as if everything was under an infinitely large waterfall of liquid light. Edited by Nikki, Mar 21 2015, 09:31 PM.

I like overpowered stuff that has near-crippling negative effects. For example, Attack and Speed get doubled but you lose 1/8 max health per turn while active. |

No no no. You can only have 9 of each djinn on a team. Even if you have multiple teams, only the front row's djinn are available for summons, which means at most you have 18 of two elements. |

Ah, that. In this world, more than 4 djinn-carrying people could fight and summon together (also, most people could only carry 1 o 2 djinn, with the greatest hero in history being able to carry up to 7 by himself). |

Actually, my idea was that if they wanted to use the most powerful summons, they had to reunite all the "adepts" in the land, so they had to recruit many NPCs. It was definitely possible, though I didn't expect them to do it. (and they didn't)

Heh. That's why I try to keep my stuff close to canon. Sure, I make some changes here and there (ex: Summons, Weapon Roles, etc), but by keeping everything close everyone's pretty familiar with it already. |
