Tomorrow morning there's going to be a solar eclipse. Apparently it's only a total one if you happened to be in Svalbard, which seems unlikely. Still in the UK we'll be able to see it between 8-11am, peaking at 9.30am with about 90% coverage .

Should be cool.

I have heard that you should not look at it unless you have special glasses. Truth or myth?

Well, staring straight into the sun is bad for your eyes. I think that's just common sense.

I think my location should be pretty good for seeing it... but apparently it's going to be cloudy, and I'll be occupied during the time it occurs anyway.

I suppose the story goes that when the sun is less bright because of the eclipse, it may not hurt to look at it, but it can still damage your eyes.

Well I saw it :D

It's pretty cloudy, but actually that helped: through the break in the clouds you could see it, but it was less bright so didn't hurt.

Yes! I saw it too! As you say, it was very cloudy, so it didn't hurt at all. I had never seen such a thing!

Awesome!

I saw one once when I was a kid, I don't remember what year it was.
Having wikied it I think it was in 1999, I'd have been about 11.

Haha, yeah. Still at least we had the small break in the clouds, neither my mum or my dad could see it at all.
