The Master is no more. Died at 66 after several years suffering Alzheimer's disease.

This hit me really hard. I literally grew up with his work and Good Omens has always been the book I consider my favourite of all time. I'm sad to say I haven't read his more recent books, and I didn't fully enjoy the recent discworld books that I did read, but that can't take away from the fact that I consider him one of the best writers of all time. It's sort of bittersweet, though. I'm sad that he's gone, but we all knew it was coming and that means I've been broken up about it for a long time now. Its reminded me of just how much respect I have for him. His sign-off on twitter was perfect and... Ah, I dunno, I don't really know what to say. He means a lot to me, I guess, and it's not very often I say that about someone that I've never met. Edited by Diem, Mar 12 2015, 07:19 PM.

It's incredible how a man can touch so many people's hearts in only 66 short years of life. Rest in peace indeed Sir Pratchett.

Indeed. There are few things that I admire as much as his works. |

I loved the stuff of his I read. I still need to read a lot more; he was prolific! I'm going to move this to off-topic, hope that's ok. |

To be fair, the discussion was longer. Yet, I also could not help but think exactly that: no more mind controlling. Spooky... |
