Personally the animal that freaks me out the most are ones the wriggle like earwigs and silverfish. I wouldn't say I was really scared of them though. What animal scares you the most? |

We used to have so many silverfish in our house growing up, they quit phasing me. I don't like spiders, I hate how many legs they have. Centipedes and millipedes are even worse, I can't think about them. Realistically I think super poisonous or dangerous small things are worse than big ones. They can sneak up on you and are harder to avoid. I can probably avoid a lion by, you know, not wandering alone into the wild of Africa. |

Yeah, I mean if the situation was which would you least want to go up against something like bear or lion might win, but in terms of what might scares you in everyday life a spider is much more likely to appear. Though the UK doesn't really have any insects or snakes that could kill you. Probably the most severe bite you'll get here would be a moskito. You could also get stung by a bee or wasp, which could cause an allergic reaction. Otherwise maybe a domesticated dog might attack you... that's basically it. Edited by Miva, Mar 2 2015, 02:33 PM.

We've got a few wicked spiders here, but not many, and fortunately not too many of the other things I mentioned. There's some deadly snakes in the prairie, but not in the city usually. Coyotes live out there, and maybe mountain lions come down in western KS since it's near CO. But again, they don't bug humans much. |

Have you ever seen a sunfish? They totally freak me out, even though they are technically harmless. |

Flying crocroaches, or bugs that unexpectedly fly; I´m comfortable around most kinds of bugs but a flying roach can make me cover my face and get to the nearest exit. |

Ugh! Yeah, it's horrible when you are looking at a bug on the ground, thinking that you are safe, and they suddenly it flies on your face. Traitorous bitches! |

Insects don't scare me, I just would rather not touch them. They are gross, not frightening. |

So surprised by the lack of bear votes! They will wreck you and you cannot outrun, outclimb, or outswim them! |

They do sound scary when you put it like that! I guess if you live somewhere where there are no bears, you barely think of them. |

On the other hand, the insects flying into people's faces phenomenon; is there an explanation for this? Can insects actually detect peoples' faces and aim for them? Because it happens a lot. Maybe it's just selective memory. |
