I've seen videos and forum posts on places like Adept's refuge and Kraden's Temple as of late saying that they'd like a remake of the first two games before ushering in a Golden Sun 4. Heck I've even said this a few times on my tumblr blog. So I'm wondering who here thinks that remaking the first two games at least (and maybe dark dawn) then release a fourth game would be a good idea and/or anything you'd like to see in a potential remake.

Simple remake where the first two games are one single and more detailed game as they intended, since they don't need to worry about a cartridge limit? Can see that as a simple straightforward 'we're doing this, totally'.

Yeah the one game thing is pretty much a given if you're gonna do a Golden Sun remake. But would you like to see it voice acted or have a side thing where you're taking a glimpse of locations that appear in Dark dawn (like Ayuthay being a settlement close to or just in the Lamakan Desert to solve the "Where did you come from?" issue in Dark Dawn)? Or any changes in the game's battle balancing or more difficult puzzle something like that? |

For simplicity, let's call "GS1&2R" the hypothetical remake of GS1&2. I feel like it would not be GS 1&2 if things were re balanced. Even if it looks like an odd thing to say.. Yes, the flaws of GS 1&2 are part of their charm. I could see an "alternate balance" mode, however, that would be similar to the easy/hard modes of GS2. If the two game are combined, I think that : >they should allow people to play the two part concurrently. (Or at least, until GS2 go past the "save-update" availability.) >Hard mode should be available from the start. (For the part of the GS1&2 players, that are so knowledgeable on the games that they cannot enjoy normal difficulty.) >Add the GS1 overworld places and djinnis to GS2. (reachable only by using the winged boat) To finish, strangely, I would like an extended GS3, with the ability to backtrack through border town. I also like the idea of having a "demake" of GS3, in the style of GS1&2. Or... maybe a prologue to GS3, as a GS1&2R post-game bonus ? I think that it sums up my ideas about GS remade. I may add something I it comes to my mind. |

Was GS particularly unbalanced? I don't remember any glaring flaws like that, unless there's some exploit I don't know about, huh. My big complaint has always been the lack of any kind of casting stat, but again, it wouldn't quite be GS if that were to change, huh. |

Yeah I don't see any problems with the balancing either for the first two games at least. Though Dark Dawn on the other hand everyone complains that it was too easy so maybe make it so that it isn't so easy. Well that and the points of no return which I would love that they would get rid of the points of no return in a remake. |

About DD points of no return : My hypothesis is that they were planning on having the party able to backtrack at some point in development. (There is a modeled house, east of carver camp, A set of eclipse monsters that appear in port Rago after the eclipse...) That is why I have the feeling there is a part of the initial DD plot that was cut from the final game. (Maybe so that it can be out early ?) That is why I would like to see a remake add the cut plot/content. And, it will probably address the Point of no return issue. In the end, I may have been analyzing DD more than GS1&2. (Because I wanted to find the interesting points behind its flaws.) And, I think that part of its flaws come from the plot being cut short. As, extending the plot to be able to go west of Border Town, after going back to Morgal, would allow to backtrack to the beginning. + with more development time, we could have had more djinni, that are not : "revive a downed character". DD needed more diverse djinn. I'm not sure if DD needs a remake or an "alternate take". I mean : If the game is extended, with a new ending, then... Is it still Dark Dawn ? Or is it an AU of it ? More analysis on the interface flaws I found in DD Basically, GS1&2 can easily be ported with improvement and it will work. DD may need an overhaul for another system than the DS... And, if they overhaul the interface, they might consider making another game instead of DD. Yes, I think that DD was too much of a "DS game" to be directly ported, for another system. |

Well it is possible to play Dark Dawn without the use of the stylis but navigating the menus ends up being a bit of a pain. But yeah the biggest problem is that it relies heavily on the split screen of the DS and that can cause some problems. So it might end up being a Tales of Hearts situation where they would keep the story mostly the same but yeah it's gonna be a complete overhaul of the graphics and game play. Or you could make a completely different game that could replace Dark Dawn and hits some of the story beats in the late game. So yeah I agree that Dark Dawn would need a complete overhaul but even if they're very minor in the grand scheme of things I would like to see some changes for the first two if they got remade. But regardless these remakes really need to rake in the money if Golden Sun 4 were to happen after these. Edit: Okay I am editing this post because I couldn't find it in the rules and guidelines that an author can't make two simultaneous posts on the same thread. And to be safe since several other forums don't allow it. Money aside I would like remakes to fix some of the most frequent complaints. Which what I find from reviewers and fans would be lack of character development, too much dialogue, the lack of any indication of where you need to go in the first two games (though honestly that's a complaint from the minority) and well everything about Dark Dawn, namely the difficulty, points of no return, and a lot of places popping out of nowhere.
