So, I spent most of my free time this week designing this recreation of Weyard from TBS in Advance Wars 2. I tried my best to fill three checkboxes I set for this map
-Accuracy to TBS
-Balance between the two teams
-Fun map design. What's the point if it isn't fun?
Now, I had to sacrifice some accuracy to the map to make the map more fun. For example, I had to give Imil a port, and cut a path through the mountains where Loho would be. The map is as balanced as I could get it, and it was really fun to play with all of my cousins during Thanksgiving, so I feel it checks all of my boxes. I have no idea if the map is still balanced in any of the Advance Wars games outside of AW2, but I still think it would be fun. If anyone else here plays AW, I encourage you to try out the map. I'm working on maps for TLA, DD, and maybe even ancient Weyard, so I'll edit this post whenever I finish balancing them. Have a happy Thanksgiving. Even though it's two days after Thanksgiving.
So, I'm pretty much in the final phases of the AW maps of Dark Dawn and Ancient Weyard. My problem is figuring out which factions should be in the map for The Lost Age. I've already tried making all four lighthouses, the four elements, the two lighthouses in the game, and the "elemental capitals" (Lemuria, Contigo, Prox, and Vale) the lighthouses, and I can't seem to balance the game. Does anybody have any ideas of where else I could stick the teams? It can be any number of teams, I just need an idea.
