Alliance Competition #10 - Audience's Amphitheatre

The aesthetics of the large flying casino seem to have been improved since the last time, right down to the materials in the outfits the girls are wearing. Due to the game being based on one table, the room was fitted around a circular podium where the table can be found. The seats for spectators loop around the outskirts of the room, about an 1/8th of the floor space fitted with a refreshments bar, with a stage entrance and exit double door next to it for dancer's access to the floor around the podium. On the other side of the room is a tunnel that leads through the seating structure to the where the door is, leading out of the amphitheatre and into the various other halls and hoteliery that make up the flying behemoth of a casino. How on earth do they get people up there?

(Feel free to use this thread to RP characters who are watching the game. Note that actions made in this thread might not affect the game (And at that I'm sure you'd be told off for trying to do so at a real tournament, so try not to be too noisy!). I recommend you make a thread for your character in the Character Codex, if the character doesn't already have one.)

How on earth do they get people up there?

Scientifically speaking, entry ramps when the thing landed for whatever reason. That said, Edgar waited in the stands on one of the edge seats, waiting for the game. Catman did some flips off, on, then off again from the stage. Also, the gift was amazing and the narrative thanks you but will not specify for unwilling avatar's privacy reasons.

Here he was again, watching a poker game on an airborne casino. This was gonna be a hilarious night. Wonder who'd sign up to play.

"I'm betting Catman's drink choice is gonna be hilariously awesome too." a mysterious voice chimed in the back of his head. Who said that?

Edgar was spooked mildly, but nothing too unusual. Gaap's light at its finest. Whatever, poker incoming. Would there be another baffling shenanigans round, or would it be deadset and serious?

It was another poker night, and she hadn't signed up... again. And now, here Haven was again, inexplicably up in the sky, sitting beside Iris knows who and being grumpy as usual. Looking up, Haven tried to admire the architecture. The high ceilings, the comfy color scheme, whatever else her purple eyes found themselves gazing upon. The seats were nice and soft too, a sultry yet homey red that worked well with the dart-board green of the carpets.
Eventually, Haven got bored of staring around, and tried to focus on a game she didn't even understand. There was a strange familiarity to the people who were playing, but Haven herself had never interacted with anyone in the Alliances and Clans (that she knew of) beyond letters for business. Sighing in boredom, Haven sank into her seat and waited for the game to end.

Another poker game organised by the alliances... Thankfully, this time Delfes wasn't asked to participate by the higher ups, likely thanks to the chaos he had caused the previous time, although he they did force him to at least attend the game, so he'd have to live through that. When the room became crowded enough, the elf looked around. The judge, Deltan, was nowhere to be seen. Not near the players, nor in the audience. Maybe the man was denied even the right to show up after what the two of them did? If anyone knew the true reason for the judge's absence, it wasn't him.

Catman announced the presence of gifts under the seats again. This time, the elf had been prepared, he had brought his own earplugs, and clearly the gift this time wasn't that. He had actually seen it sticking out when entering, but had assumed it had been forgotten there by staff or something like that. Why would he be given a crowbar? Although it was possible the gift was next to the crowbar and it really was just forgotten there. Delfes looked under his seat.

No. Nothing but a crowbar, that was the only thing there. Although there was something attached to the crowbar. It was a small message saying his gift was too large to fit under the seat and to use the crowbar to open the crate in which his gift is, with some coordinates from the storage room on the ship written down under the message. He couldn't help but let out a "Really!? Reeeally!?" in an exasperated voice after reading the message.

There was also a small end note saying he could keep the crowbar too after if he wanted. Why not, he could just give it to some blacksmith back in Wendel or something. That part wasn't all that important. He'd have to head to the storage room after the game, or during a pause if there was one at some point, to see what the gift was this time.

Huh, only two participants this time around. Must have been the international fiasco of last time, where they couldn't even spare enough administrative staff.

Edgar looked around aimlessly, enjoying the theatrics of a Catman vs. Mr. Spinel match. Not much else going on, maybe stir up some excuses to exchange mailing addresses to keep in contact. Hmmm. He looked around for other people who were more looking around than watching the game to grab during the next break.
...It seemed like time had come to a halt. Since Mr. Spinel had been asked if there was going to be any further raising, there had been an odd silence. Perhaps it had been Gaap's light gently pointing out thoughts in other realities, which it had seemed like days of had occurred in the span of that instant. A few people checked timepieces and rulebooks, and others worried Mr. Spinel had suffered a stroke or had fallen asleep. No, maybe it wasn't just Edgar.

What on (or, well, partly above in this case) Weyard was he doing?
Time was...slow and painful. Edgar watched time tick away, partly with his body and partly with the softly screaming moonlight and songs of stars beyond his mind whispering in the background.

"These things never end well. They should probably be a lot less forceful in the invites next time." he commented softly, more to himself than not.

Time had become unspeakably multidimensional. Or at least, multiple lines were at vastly different compression.

Somewhere, someplace, in a single moment in the back of one man's mind, something truly, unspeakably sinful made a connection.

"The game's not over yet..." Edgar muttered annoyedly as things beyond the stars chipped away at the walls of the world and wondered why. He was getting bored, beginning to idly plot out the alien thoughts whistling into his mind. He whispered something in a language he didn't know, a simple expression under his breath. "Yarsnil kegnarfl."

What...?

Songs that he didn't know began wandering into his head. In the hammerspacelike ambiguity that djinn wandered about him, the elemental spirits began questioning this incursion. It was like the usual spikes, only slightly more worried.

Though the world was going to be greatly annoyed by what would follow, there were almost no signs of it but the chatter of miniature allies. Edgar shifted in his seat as the mind of someone else began to dwell on him.

Ishtar-E to raise minions by force had been felled and half-forgotten. Laurel-L who would wake the goal moved her hands and the puppetry of the gods was engaged, wondering if this too would pass. Hemera-D waited to bring the dawn of a new world, and Asmodeus-Q plotted it. Three women and a snake. A sun and a core watched this, and the two watched the four watching one, then the two became four as the cat/cats and shadow joined the party.

This game was, although the pause had been merely moments, enough time in another world for the games to begin.

"Mr. Oberon." Melusine and Authority said simultaneously, before staring at each other and making several body language expressions to the effect of 'what the hell I was gonna say that'.

"Yes?" Edgar said whisperingly, staring at the ceiling and hoping those sitting a few seats away wouldn't notice. "What?"

Thought, as in the Jupiter djinn, softly cast an area variant of Mind Read or perhaps Spirit Sense usually reserved for such Jupiter elementals as djinn, the telltale glow of psynergy from whatever pockets and cloaks djinn hide in muffled by the others, pulling the rest into a psychic call to avoid the-

Edgar's mental signature was slightly different and this unnerved Thought in ways he was unsure how to vocalize. Thankfully, he didn't need to. He could just broadcast conceptual [mental signature abnormality unnerves me] without words. Problem solved.

[Yeah, I know.] Edgar thought back. [Been thinking about something bigger. And about other worlds.] He additionally tagged some nebulous ideas: [alien concept language] [sense of untranslatability except by thought] [where are shadowfolk getting their things] [narrative causality]. A few extra glimmers, the usual nonsensical Gaap's light, slipped in. [horikawa] [telesoping series] [why did it have to be Jacian who died]

Various djinn sent [funny looks], [who the hell is Jacian?], [what], [how is calculus relevant?], [I love thunder drums!] and various other expressions of confusion or interest at the alien invasion of thoughts from other worlds.

[This is concerning.] Melusine stated through the thought drizzle.

[I fear we are outranked.] Authority responded.

[CONCEPT NOT TRANSLATIONAL]

That last one was a bit weirder, prompting [huh?] from several people and [disgruntled] from Thought, Authority, Melusine, and even Cooker for some reason (probably to look cool).

[When is this poker game going to be over?!] complained Wash. [Everything in this hammerspace is now clean but I'm BORED now!]

Deciding that she'd had enough of just sitting around, Haven stood and stretched. She quickly made her way to the aisle, embarrassed about getting in people's line of sight. Though the poker game was clearly going to go uncontinued for a while, Haven still didn't like being the target of a couple of glances here and there as she made her way through. Finally in the aisle, she decided that she'd stop off at the bathroom before buying out the refreshment stand.
As she was calculating the cost of the food and how much she was actually going to eat, she ended up walking into a wall. Like, hard. She squealed loudly and rubbed her head, which was now red and bruising.

Conveniently near the aisle, Edgar was shaken out of reverie and various djinn out of a psycall.

"Uh..." he said, taking the excuse to leave by getting up and walking over out of concern before anyone could step in (or for those outside of immediate attention, notice), handwaving it with "Qualified medicaster with regen, lemme just-"

He raised a hand and cast Ply, hopefully eradicating the injury with a rush of healing sparklestuff.

"You okay there?" Edgar asked.

Something seemed to register in his mind about Catman forgetting his cards and Mr. Spinel repeatedly entering a caffiene coma in what should've been the span of a few poker rounds, but his actual attention was firmly localized out of amateur pretending to be a doctor just because he had a few healing utilities.

Haven snorted, crossing her arms and her face flushing, "I mean... I guess. Thanks for the heals, I guess." She huffed loudly and bit her lip. She looked Edgar over, trying to figure out how to continue the conversation if at all.
She glared but her face eventually softened, "So are you with the alliances too? Which one are you from? I suppose I should be trying to get to know people around here."

"Nah, unallied." Edgar said casually, suddenly paying attention to the various architectural details of the casino vessel. "Rhamus delegation, Oberon Trading liaison. I'm mostly here for appearances but I guess I could cover for business jazz if I had to. Where do you hail from?"

Haven looks away, "I'm from a mix my parent's genes, just like anyone els- wait... have genes been discovered yet?" She shrugs, deciding not to damage the 4th wall further, "So... I'm not really sure which one of the names I heard is yours. I'll just call you 'Trading Liaison' for now." She snorts a bit at herself.

Edgar visibly zoned out as the fourth wall was disrupted, a subtle flash easily mistaken for a minor psynergy activation not worth the full-body rings momentarily ringing across him as an audible downward tone softly rang out as I AM THAT IS something happened-

"Ah, sorry, what was that?" Edgar said for a moment, returning to normality just as abruptly as he had left it. "I'm Edgar. Edgar Oberon. You are?"

Haven looked Edgar over carefully before extending a wary hand, "I'm Haven Galeson. It's a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Oberon." The little Jupiter adept then straightened up, "Oh, yes. I was just heading to the refreshments stand since the game is... slow." She rolled her eyes and sighed, "Would you like to come with?"

Handshake ensued. Letting go gently, he accepted with "Charmed. Yeah, sure. Could use a drink, it's going on for ages."

Haven snickered, "Oh yeah. You'd think people with flying casinos(?) would know how to get a game moving." She brushed some dusty brown hair out of her face and behind her ear, stepping around Edgar as she tried to find the concessions stand, "Right... This is only my second time here so I have no idea where we're going, but with the way the game's going even if we get lost we shouldn't miss anything." Haven then quirked an eyebrow, "Unless you know the way and I don't get to be nosy."
