I can't remember if we've had this topic before. I was thinking, since Weyard is a reflection of our own world, would Mia, and by extension Alex, have a scandinavian accent? Given it's location. It changes the way I think about them to think that way. Mia is so polite I always pictured her with a posh british accent. I kinda like the idea now I thought of it though, still I don't think the accent is as intimidating for Alex. I guess the Vale lot would have some kind of European accent, but there's a lot of different accents that could be, maybe something Dutch or German sounding? Would Piers sound maybe hawaiian? Ivan would have a south american accents and Sheba would have an african accent. I'm not super sure what these would sound like as I'm not so familiar with those areas. I know none of this would necessarily be canon, since Weyard doesn't reflect any particular time in earths history, nor does it reflect it closely, but it's interesting to think about. |

There were some Scottish accents in one of the lords' manors right? I forget which one, I think maybe the one that was trying to chop down all the trees. I wonder how they handled it (and by extension other dialects/accents) in non-English localizations I always imagined Mia with a Russian accent. But I suppose on the map it correlates more with the Scandinavian area?? Idk. But Alex with a villainous British accent = amazing I wonder what Piers would sound like. Wikipedia says for Lemuria: "Lemuria is the name of a hypothetical "lost land" variously located in the Indian and Pacific Oceans. It is said to have been civilized for over 20000 years, with its population speaking Tamil. " with Tamil being an actual language. But the feel of the city's buildings and Senate made me think the Lemurians are more like Ancient Greece. |

With Lemuria I made the connection between it and Atlantis nearly instantly, so I'd have a hard time picturing Piers with anything other than a greek accent(whatever that sounds like) or international accent. Admitedly I never really thought about accents at all, so I can't really say. Scandinavian seems to make sense for Mia, but I think I'd go more towards middle-orient or egypt for Sheba. Though I really just assumed they speak clean international English. |

Honestly, I just assumed they spoke normal English as well, although i find the thought of them all with different accents very interesting. The one with the Scottish accent was Lord Bilibin, but interestingly enough, he was the only one in Billybean who spoke like that. I agree that Alex with an accent would be really cool, and definitely menacing XD I wonder what accent the dwarves would have... |

For Lemuria, it is actually based on an actual real legend which may be true with the existence of the microconteninent of Mauritia. So they would speak something between Indian and Madagascarian, I don't know actually. |

I can never unhear Mia as the female equivalent to the Medic complete with spontaneous German Also Xian definitely has a dialect thing going on but memory evades me, any thoughts on that? Something about China, but it doesn't actually provide a language barrier, and then everywhere else in the game isn't even locally flavored too much? Vale bunch maybe plus Ivan would be 'psychic! international english'. Anybody have a good idea for where Vale actually maps to in Angara-to-Eurasia? Edited by Nedben, Feb 8 2017, 12:07 AM.

I have always pictured Isaac having a very light British accent. Ivan has a much, much heavier one, and generally speaks in a polite and calm manner. In contrast to them, Garet has a rather thick southern US accent. How this works with Isaac and Garet growing up in the same town, I have no idea. Like Nedben, I cannot unhear Mia's voice as being "TF2 Medic but female". Complete with the random, angry, vulgar German swearing at anything that even slightly annoys her (Which is essentially everything). Mia has no idea how to actually speak German or even is aware of the existence of the language, since it is not existent on Weyard. But, she still swears in German anyway. Felix has a light Russian accent. Saturos, Menardi, Agatio, Karst, and essentially anyone from Prox have much heavier ones. Jenna's voice in my mind can be defined this way. You know the obnoxious, screaming tone that people speak in when they are quoting someone they do not like in an attempt to mock them? That, only the person being mocked is a grandmother who constantly shouts and basically speaks in caps lock. Oh, and throw in the fact that she constantly shortens and mispronounces words (And has bad grammar, sometimes to the point of caveman speak), and that is how I picture Jenna speaking. Sheba, despite not being from Prox, also has a fairly heavy Russian accent in my mind. I have no idea why. Piers, along with all Lemurians, I have always pictured as having Scandinavian accents. This does not make too much sense, but none of the accents that I picture for the characters do. |
