Croquettes are delicious, and no other croquette screams "I love you" like the croquettes Mako's mother makes in Kill la Kill.![]() Traditionally in the Mankanshoku household, these croquettes are made from various and unknown ingredients Mrs. Mankanshoku can find and afford, but she always makes sure you won't be poisoned. But for the sake of making sure I don't poison you, let's use traditional ingredients like Mrs. Mankanshoku does in episode 7. ![]() Ingredients Potatoes (I used Idaho potatoes.) Ground meat (I used beef but pork and chicken will work if you prefer those!) Onion, minced (White or Yellow) Eggs Flour Panko bread crumbs Vegetable Oil (You need a lot for deep-frying.) 1) Fill a pot with oil, enough to deep fry. I traditionally use a wok, but any pot deep enough will work. Set aside. 2) Peel your potatoes and boil them. Like with the Gotcha Pork Roast, if you can stick a fork or a chopstick in without effort, you're good to go for mashing them up. Once again, do not add milk. 3) Cook the ground meat and onion in a pan until brown. Use seasonings like salt, pepper, and soy sauce as you cook. Mirin, miso paste, and Sake are also great optional seasonings. Drain when browned and mix it in to the potatoes. 4) Remember that pot of oil? Heat it up. 5) Crack the eggs into a bowl and stir them until everything's yellow. 6) Start with a cup of flour in a separate bowl. 7) Repeat with panko crumbs. 8) Grab a handful of the meat and potato mixture and roll it into an oblong shape. 9) Roll it in the flour, then the egg, then the panko. When the oil is ready, drop it in carefully. 10) Repeat step nine until no more potato and meat mixture is left. Add panko, eggs, and flour when needed. 11) When the croquettes are a golden brown, scoop them out of the oil and let them drain and cool for 10 minutes. And enjoy your delicious Croquettes! The fillings are pretty much up to you, actually. Except for the potato. You need that. But feel free to add corn or peas or whatever you want to the mixture before you flour-egg-crumbs-and-fry it. Tofu might even be a good substitute for the meat! Don't know about the egg though. But in the end, mix and match to your taste with this simple recipe for croquettes! |
