As has been brought up, for all of its good Golden Sun has...simple dialogue at moments, and personalities aren't always absolute. It is somewhat ambiguous. The ways you can read a character's not-always-shown personality vary, so, what are YOUR Golden Sun hero adepts like? Tell us about your interpretation of the player characters and other characters even. Hell, the setting itself isn't too detailed. We hear of the 4 elements, alchemy, a lil bit of kung fu force psynergy stuff on the side, some ambiguous bits about the goddess Iris maybe maybe, and little more, with inclarity of fundaments and some other shenanigans all over the place. What is your personal reading of The Way Golden Sun Works? Share all of your headcanons. The parts that are shown, the parts that aren't shown, and everything in between. Speak your version of this world. As is necessary with all headcanon-sharing threads, everyone's ideas are valid so don't fight each other over different interpretations unless the staff need to step in and enforce the rules. So, go ahead, tell us. Edited by Nedben, Oct 3 2016, 02:44 AM.

Well I always saw Felix as a perfect antihero. The man looks the part, a quiet badass who is willing to do anything to get the job done, even if it means looking like a villain to his childhood friend, kidnapping his sister, and pretending to be dead for 10 years. Because of that, I always saw him as a bit of an irritable jerk. Like, he won't help other people unless it gets him closer to his goals and such, but he's a good guy. Thanks to this perception though, Lost Age felt confusing since it's borderline open world, huh. |

Said martial artist continued falling, but Alex can teleport as has been demonstrated many times in the games, so was fine. The martial artist of no consequence was never heard from again. |

The Wise One is evil or severely misguided at the very least and due to his programming being essentially to let the world rot and stop all attempts to fix it without being brainwashed first cannot be trusted. He also has brainwashing powers, considering nobody actually goes with the protagonists and the idea is shot down despite this technically being the whole town's job and a SEVERELY better idea than just sending two kids. Seriously, at the very least Dora could've gone to avoid that last separation, we could've used another adept! Also the Great Healer of Vale is a heartless bastard, no contest. The GBA noises that people make when talking are the actual language people are speaking, known as Jenei Combat Terse, a language for talking quickly during frenzied situations like combat or lighthouses earthquaking, while Jenei Longform or language-people-in-this-world-use is used to stretch out conversations while adventuring or to take ages when debating, i.e. the Lemurian Senate or party discussions in the comics that seem to take place over a long span of time. Isaac has a bad case of Player Character Syndrome the entire games and speaks virtually always by proxy character or through nodding yes/no because the player's influence on their mind is making them really shy and unsure if their localconsciousness wording fits with the shifter-style artificial overmind relaying instructions. The reason why only Isaac is named by default in GS is because he's supposed to be very player-stand-in-y. This is why when you pause the game to check the menu but stay on that submenu selection screen he looks at you because he's worried you're just going to leave him alone with his friends on Crazy Quest of Worldsaving. Garet is randomly stubborn, prone to silly brotherly fighting and easily malleable when not actively trying to mess with you. He is heavily characterized by that one conversation where you can say 'it doesn't bother me' and he just goes But Thou Must and then when you say it DOES bother you he's like 'don't let it get to you' and then you kinda want to pin him to the wall and shout at him right in front of the lord of the castle and then things start going black. Ivan is very subservient because most of his motivations are following people around on important quests, and he's introduced doing a job. Very page-y character. Mia is somewhere between her assumed Classic Healer and the Aeiouian psychopathic destroyer mad-genius-in-a-dumpster incarnation, being a very well-repressed casual. Jenna is a facet-mind of Iris, and thus they are the same hotheaded girl who would rather the Wise One not BS the whole world to death so they can still be entertained by the goings-on of silliness. REDNESS DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY MA'AM Felix is somewhere between Mr. Spinel's 'idgaf unless it does my job' and 'highly frustrated because I have to do all this other garbage in order to do said job', more so than Isaac who is merely failing when on-task. Sheba is angry depressed like a teenage guy having a godawful day every day. She is simply going along for the vague hope that somewhere in all this slogging there will be an answer, and kinda enraged at the end when there really isn't, which makes her sad. She gets better eventually. Piers is basically what Alex would've been if he hadn't gone off for dreams of power; a regular nice guy with a tendency to be obfuscation incarnate For No Reason and also chuck people around with pillars made of water bodies. Also, boats. There are considerably more djinni than we see, but most of them don't like the party (presumably Flint is really annoying so only his 'friends' or people who have given up on resisting after being beaten up by the party actually will tolerate joining), and while they can compress down into basically handheld size more than 9 and the fact that you're carrying a small pile of creatures starts impairing more than it helps. The martial artists will to defeat Alex enabled him to prevent Alex from escaping his hold, so despite teleporting, they were still going to hit the ground no matter what. |

If you two are going to writebattle via writing around what the other is saying, I think I might as well make a thread for it when activity picks up, it sounds fun... Djinn and adepts are highly talkative but hate Flint and possibly Echo so much that they all collectively give the silent treatment to them whenever they're nearby, resulting in a lack of conversations to be heard, causing them to believe they're either under a vow of silence unless strictly necessary or in some form of keep quiet contest. And they DID eat all the potato chips. Potato chips are in fact a favorite of djinni who deign to eat, especially Venus ones. Lack of alchemy also leads to increasing stupidity and/or less brain development over time as the Jupiter element energy related to thought is dissipated into air-typey Jupiter element energy keeping the atmosphere stable, possibly passively drained from people made of the elements via breathing (while the earth eroded, the water was being drained off into that hugigantic fog, and the fire is clearly weak away from itself since Prox is just frostland, there's little about complete absence of wind or the air getting thinner even in valleys w/e), hence why S&M did not try explaining their goals to the theoretically easily killed at any time but difficult to stop then and there kids with the Item They Need, NPCs are kinda weird and have simplistic thoughts, Vale decided that sending two poorly equipped children out alone is any kind of a good idea, the absence of zol until Dark Dawn where alchemy had been restored and jupiter-active materials could properly form, and maaaaybe the Jupiter adept placement idk. My main headcannon is that there are many towns and villages that were not seen in the games located in unexplorable areas like mountain ranges. This includes an elven society living deep within Kolima forest in that massive part of forest behind Tret that could never be explored. The elven "artifacts" found in the region by the party are common items that were lost by travelling elves and weren't worth the effort of trying to retrieve them. |

The martial artist is not an adept and is thus garbage tier in the GS world. Their will does nothing and the die. The end. |

Yeesh, Ms. Role, what do you have so strongly against non-adepts? Anyhow, huh, I always imagined Ivan had been through quite a bit. I mean, he's a quiet kid but almost everyone in Vault mentions how creepy he is, even Garet when they first meet him. He doesn't really mention it but I think Ivan's probably a huge loner because if his powers, huh. |

You donīt know how much I missed that bickering! My headcannon is that Ivan used mind read to give Hammet a hand in getting good deals when he was traveling with him as a merchant. |

Personally, on the topic of Martial Artists, I've always considered Chi to be sufficient to let a non adept hold their own among Adepts. Sure, most people are not capable of getting to that level, but the power is there, if you train hard enough to obtain it. I'm sad I don't have a chi user in CF, I'd love to see the system I made actually get used by a player XD |
